The Orwell Prizes for Journalism and for Exposing Britain’s Social Evils 2019 as well as the inaugural Orwell Prize for Political Fiction are now open for entries.
The Orwell Prize for Journalism is one of the UK’s most prestigious prizes for journalism, awarded to the sustained commentary and/or reportage which comes closest to George Orwell’s ambition ‘to make political writing into an art’. The prize closes for entries 14th January 2019.
The Orwell Prize for Exposing Britain’s Social Evils,which is sponsored by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, supports and encourages original, insightful, and impactful reporting on social issues in the UK. The prize is named in recognition of the task Joseph Rowntree gave his organization ‘to search out the underlying causes of weakness or evil’ that lay behind Britain’s social problems. The prizes closes for entries 14th January 2019.
The inaugural Orwell Prize for Political Fiction is also open for entries.
