The Orwell Prize for Reporting Homelessness

The Orwell Prize for Reporting Homelessness 2026 will be awarded for reporting and/or commentary on homelessness. As of 2026, prize is open to entrants in the first eight years of their journalism careers.

This Prize aims to celebrate and showcase reporting and storytelling about homelessness that makes rigorous use of evidence and data, shares personal experiences of homelessness in an impactful way and helps to change the national conversation about the issue. It will recognise work first created or published between 1st April 2025 and the deadline of 31st March 2026.

Making your entry

  • Please read the rules of entry and make sure you have all your material to hand before completing the form below.
  • Written items should always be submitted as a PDF (preferred) or Word document. Permanent, accessible, non-expiring URLs can also be included where available.
  • Video or audio items should always be submitted as permanent, accessible, non-expiring URLs with transcripts included where possible. If you can’t attach a link, please contact us to arrange another method.
